Information is transformation! That is one of our favourite sayings at UR Wellness.
Since it is ADHD awareness month, let's look at what ADHD is:
ADHD symptoms vary based on the adult or child, however, there are some symptoms people with ADHD tend to experience.
Children with ADHD typically have a hard time paying attention to details – at home and at school. They also tend to be “extremely active” or hyperactive.
Adults can have racing thoughts and difficulty organizing their tasks.
Children with ADHD are usually more impulsive than children who do not have the condition.
Some may have one or two of these symptoms, while others may exhibit all three.
To be “officially” diagnosed with ADHD, you must see a qualified practitioner and must display multiple symptoms for at least 6 months and in specific combinations.
Before an official ADHD diagnosis can be made, your health professional will need to rule out any other medical conditions that could be contributing to your or your child’s ADHD-like symptom. It is important that you see a qualified health professional who is trained and licensed to test you for ADHD.
If you are looking for guidance with attention issues, anxiety, fears, trauma and PTSD, or stress, it takes courage to ask for help. Admitting you can’t do everything on your own, is the first step toward achieving wellness in a fast paced, demanding world.
